I am happy to report that the mother of the babies returned late on day two and moved her family. I don't know where they are but I hope they're safe from the lawn mower. It's been raining so much that the grass grows high quickly and baby rabbits know how to hide.
I spotted her nibbling on stuff near the bird feeders. This is dangerously close to the garden and I am sure I will be trying to keep her out of it all summer.

We found these little critters in a window well after a much-needed lawn mowing. We had no idea there was a rabbit nest on the side of the house and I'm guessing the lawn mower scared the you-know-what out of them. They stayed there for one day. When it became apparent that they weren't going to get out on their own and their mother was nowhere in sight, we put a plank in there as a ramp for them. They stayed in there for one more day. We contemplated things: do we adopt them? Take them to a refuge for wild animals? Feed them? As cute as they are, I really just wanted them to leave so they wouldn't eat the garden. Stay tuned to see what happens.

Since I've been gone, I've been trying to climb out from under all of these boxes. I did some spring cleaning and took the items to my mom's house for a garage sale. It was a lot of work to go through stuff and price it (thanks, Mom, for hosting the sale - that's a lot of work in and of itself) but I'm glad it's out of the house. We even did a toy box clean-out. Ahhh!

Do not adjust your settings...
It's not you, it's me. I haven't posted in a week because I'm overwhelmed with things. However, I do have some more before and afters and other fun things when I come back. Stay tuned.

"After" shot of room that I just finished. It's a tough room to photograph, so this is the best I could do. I don't have a good "before" shot. Just picture a room full of toys, a rug the cats destroyed and no furniture.
I spent $75 on a rug and $25 on a gallon of paint. The other accessories came from Target and I cashed in some credit card points for a gift card to cover that. Ah yeah!

Blogger has been down so I apologize for the tardy post. I'll catch up tomorrow.
I took this picture at the playground and I thought this pattern would look really cool stenciled on a wall in a slightly darker wall color, maybe even a different sheen. I'd like to try it in the room I'm repainting but I simply don't have the time. Hopefully someone else will try it.
I should have a post about the room redo tomorrow.

This is what my break looked like today. I try to stay away from soda but there are some days when you let things slide and today was one of them. I had had it with the meltdowns and forced the boy to take a nap. I probably should've done the same.
While taking an internet break, I saw an interesting brownie recipe worth trying.

Someone was tired after a long day of a room redo. I had the day off of work and no child, so I thought I could quickly repaint a room. HA! It took all day to get done what I thought would take half a day. But that's always how it goes.
This little guy is enjoying a "new" rug that I got downtown. I think my husband felt a little icky at first about a used rug, but I feel icky about these. And the nice ones at West Elm and Crate and Barrel are just too expensive, especially when they're likely to get clawed or puked on. After furniture shopping in my basement, I should have it all pulled together nicely. Until I change my mind.

Happy Mother's Day!
A rare sight these days. We've certainly had enough rain, but it feels like weeks since we've seen the sun.

A friend came over to babysit and brought these. The cats took the liberty of removing them from their water in the night. But they still smelled wonderful the next day.

I guess I've been forgetting to post lately: sorry!
It was just one of those days when only a donut hole is going to help you get through the morning. I was lucky enough that a friend somehow read my mind and brought them over.

Dandelions can be pretty. Just not in our yard, according to the other one of us that works on it. Thankfully that's not me. :)

I know this photo is horrible, but it was the only way I could sneak up on this pair of birds and capture them snacking. Aren't they cute? A mommy and daddy perched together. My son and I have come to love our backyard birds so much that we even thought about buying a parakeet or two. This wouldn't be a good idea for many reasons. So if the boy mentions a pet bird with a long face, I remind him that the bird would be sad if he couldn't fly around with his friends. I do not mention that our three cats would probably destroy it within an hour or two.

I'm wondering when a nice, sunny day like this is going to happen again. I'm not normally a complainer when it comes to the weather. But this winter was pretty wretched and spring is not shaping up to be much better. I know it's coming: think positive.

My new baby: a 15" MacBook Pro. I haven't had a laptop since about 2000 (it was a used clamshell that had a dead battery so didn't even qualify as a laptop, really). I had to bite the bullet and buy one. It makes sense for work and was a necessity for HTML class. I'm hoping that this will allow me to do a little bit of work outside of the house while I ignore my child at various places around town. ;)

They don't make 'em like they used to. I wasn't sure anyone would want my dad's old camera (it's very nice but it's film). I listed it on Craigslist and am hoping to sell it today. He can put the money towards a DSLR.
